Book of Han—Biography of Su Wu firstly recorded Su Wu’s legendary stories of his whole life,and shaped one glorious image that Su Wu had successfully accomplished his mission and always been patriotic and loyal to the throne.Since then,Su Wu and its stories have always been a motif for mountains of artistic forms such as poetry,operas,novels,art,music,film and television and been continuously sang and complimented,adapted and deduced,of which the Su Wu The Shepherd could be known from door to door and far-reaching.Based on the collection,reorganization and analysis of historical materials,this thesis firstly discusses the historical facts related to Su Wu and then selectively analyzes the shaping of Su Wu’s Image in Book of Han-Biography of Su Wu,pointing out that literary works themed Su Wu in late generations belong to the inheritance,adaptation and deduction of Book of HanBiography of Su Wu.Hereafter,this thesis emphatically analyzes Su Wu’s image and characteristics in these forms of art such as operas of Yuan,Ming and Qing Dynasties,dramas,operas and dance operas of modern times as well as contemporary picture-story books and so forth.Ultimately,this thesis summarizes the characteristics of Su Wu’s image during its reception process as below.Firstly,highlighting Su Wu’s personality spirit of being patriotic and loyal to the throne as well as being firm and unyielding.Secondly,showing up various aesthetic tastes and standards of value.Thirdly,abundant and diverse reception forms.All in all,the widespread Su Wu’s stories and continuously shaped Su Wu’s image embody Chinese nation’s cultural tradition that being patriotic and loyal to the throne,advocating integrity,defying steadfastly all brute force,being impervious to the temptation of wealth and high position and not being shaken or modified by poverty or destitution.
