As a significant literary form, the novel occupies a pivotal position in cultural exchange. Every year, China imports a lot of foreign novels of different themes and forms for cultural exchanges. In recent years, with the rapid development of the Internet and the transformation of people's lifestyles, many of the wonderful, language refined popular novels have become kinds of light fictions for people. For example, the time-travel fiction has swept around China in the last few years. Thus, in this translation practice, the excerpts of a suspense time-travel novel have been chosen as the source text. The novel is called Dancing with Paris by Juliette Sobanet, which was published on 2013/07/16. With the fantastic story, the fast-paced plot and the delicate language, this novel is indeed well worth reading. In order to make Chinese readers feel the charm of the novel, the translation process becomes very important. Since the story is very fantastic and the author tells the mystery story in the first half of the novel with detail descriptions, how to translate these details in native way to make the Chinese readers who read the novel have the same feeling with source language readers as much as possible is the problem that the translator need to solve. As a translator, one can always meet the problems that a English word having no corresponding meaning in Chinese or the English word cannot be translated literally. Therefore, taking the narrative features of the novel and such difference between English and Chinese languages into account, the translator takes the functional equivalence theory as the theoretical guidance in the translation process and adopts conversion to solve this problem and to ensure the attractiveness of the target text is expressed. The translation practice report consists of three parts. In the first part the translator introduces the background and practical significance of the translation practice report; in the second part, the background of the source text, the translation theory, the translation process and case analysis have been clarified; the third part summarizes the translating experience the translator has gained from the translation practice and the deficiency of the translator.
