Ultimate View And Upaya View:the Main Characteristics Of The Buddhist Faith

As a great religion,the faith of Buddhism has its own distinguished feature.However,the research about the content of feature is still insufficient in our country.This thesis aims to explore the feature of the Buddhist faith based on the theory of ultimate view and upaya view.In the Chapter 1,the research position is expounded.In the Chapter 2,it argues that in the faith,there is no body who believes in Buddhism and no object of faith.None of subject and object of the faith are real unchanging entity.Non-duality is the faith's main characterization.Chapter 3 is from the point of view of upaya.First,we discuss the definition and object of the Buddhist faith.There are two types of Three Jewels:Three Jewels of self-nature body and Three Jewels of separate bodies.For Three Jewels of separate bodies,the believer has a deep sincerity and take Buddha and monk as good doctors,Dharma as medicine,Nirvana is exactly the recovery from illness.Three Jewels is not dominated?iconodulic and it is selfless.For Three Jewels of self-nature body,the believer overcomes his egocentrism completely,and focuses on internal.The faith in Three Jewels of self-nature body helps us know the truth of the reality directly and the faith in Three Jewels of separate bodies is expedient means to the truth.Then the thesis argues that the theoretical basis of the faith is the truth of the reality that everything is equal completely without distinction.And the emergence of faith relies on several factors:Good roots,outside assistance and so on.The faith is a result of Self-power and other-power.The faith deepens as Yogis practice levels go high.When the believer reaches the path of seeing,he will not backslide again.There are four reliances in Buddhism which makes sure of the faith correct,showing the faith's equality,wisdom,practicalness and fullness.In conclusion,the topics above can refer to the law of the unity of opposites,the truth of the reality tells that everything is equal completely without distinction,meanwhile,the diversity exists in the reality.Just as the relationship between gold and gold ware,though gold ware has varieties of shapes,it is made of gold without exception,and the gold shows itself just by gold ware.Non-duality is the essence.So the fundamental characteristic of the Buddhist faith is rightly non-duality.
