On February 1,2014, when a television play Beautiful Contract starring Fan Ming and Song Dandan was broadcast, it attracted wide attention. This is a middle-aged romantic comedy using the sham-marriage model. In the play, the beautiful hot pot restaurant owner Hua Meili starred by Song Dandan entered into a sham marriage with fitness coach Liu Deyi starred by Fan Ming because of her sons'registered permanent residence. Eventually they fell in love with each other. In feet, this "sham marriage" contract model is no stranger to everyone. Early Hollywood classic movies used such models too. In 1990 Green Card directed by Peter Weir tells a story in which the hero and heroine enter into a sham marriage to get the US green card and eventually a false thing becomes true. In 2009, The Proposal directed by Anne Fletcher tells a story in which the female boss Margaret threatens her subordinate Andrew to marry her because of visa problems and they end up getting married. Undoubtedly Korean plays use the contract love model the most consummately. From the earliest Something About 1%(2003) to ubiquitous Full House (2004) and then Fated to Love You (2014) in recent years, and so on, South Korean contract-marriage plays are prevalent and enduring. Why South Korean contract-marriage plays are prevalent and enduring and what artistic features do they have and what social secrets are behind contract-marriage plays? This paper will intend to uncover the mystery of contract-marriage mode in plays. |
