The Construction Of The Main Character Relationships Of Marriage Drama On Chinese Mainland

During the1990s, there was a boom in the mass culture. Since then, with the industrial reform in China, Chinese television dramas production has entered the industrial production process. In consequence, lots of television dramas are like wind vanes to the average people in daily life. Among those television dramas, marriage television dramas take a large part in the daily cultural consumption. At the same time, the mass culture has been expanded rapidly in China. They become sufficient and necessary conditions for both highlighted construction rules of television dramas text and narrative content closing to the daily life. To construction rules, narrative content and viewing behavior as a background, marriage television dramas has conformed its own category of text operation system and accepted high rating and response. Of course, the system includes the speed and intensity to reflect reality in marriage television dramas. This paper attempts to analyze the construction of the main character relationship among many components of marriage television dramas text. Besides, the aesthetic value and cultural meaning of marriage television dramas will be explored.The cases in this paper are popular marriage television dramas in recent years, such as Hand in Hand, Chinese Style Divorce, Double-sided Adhesive, Marriage Battle, Adolescence Knocked Menopause, The Pursuit of Happiness and so on. Moreover, this paper mainly discusses and analyses the construction of different types of character relationships. This paper contains three parts, namely three kinds of relationship between the characters, including the character relationship between husband and wife, expanded family relationship and extra-marital relationship. And that discussion of the character relationships is the progressive analysis process of which from the surface to the deep and from the "communication" to "reception". As is known to all, in additional Chinese culture, family is the cell of the society, In addition, the relationship between husband and wife is the basic of family relationship. So, the first analysis character relationship of this paper is the relationship between husband and wife. It is in the core of marriage and it is the focus of drama text expression. In this analysis, two closely related issues have been proposed to narrative text, which are narrative potential and narrative preference. In the second part, the relationship of expanded family contains two kinds of character relationships, namely character relationship between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law and relationship between step-mother and step-son or step-daughter. The paper starts from the distinctive point of view, such as traditional culture, semiotic theory and modernity. Since both character relationships can not be avoided in the marriage, with lots of discussions on the literature and film aesthetics, those two relationships are combined into one chapter in this paper. Corresponding with the first part, the third part of the extra-marital relationship is another highlight and innovation which analysis point of view including feminism, mass culture, values and communication meaning. Not only preliminary study about the construction of text is involved, but also reflection and detailed inquiry about the television dramas are included. And this part also demonstrates the rationality of extra-marital narrative in the category of mass culture text.
