Publication And Utilization Research On Travel Literature Of Modern Western Visitors In Tibet (2001-2015)

The travel notes of the westerners who visited China in modern times are important and unique historical documents. As historical references,they are useful for us to understand the politics,economy and social customs in modern China. The westerners’ impression of China in those travel notes provides various and precious material from different perspectives for our historical research. The constrains of traffic inconvenience and information inaccessibility make the informative travel notes more important for historical research.Enhancing the understanding of the westerners’ travel notes is helpful for us to explore and draw on their value.The westerners’ travel notes published from 2001 to 2015 received much attention from academia. Their publication situation,academic value and shortcomings are worth exploring and reflecting. We can understand the historical value of the travel notes of westerners who visited Chinese Tibet in modern times by reviewing and summarizing the history of the travel notes about Tibet in modern times,analyzing the utilization of typical travel notes and deeply exploiting the value of travel notes. In addition, it’s necessary to investigate the publication issues analyze the related causes and resolution, think further and thus deepen the recognition on the publication of travel notes about Tibet which were written by westerners in the recent 15 years.Studying the historical value and the shortcomings of the travel notes written by the westerners who visited Chinese Tibet is conducive to providing new ideas for the current publication of the travel notes about Tibet and promoting the interaction between the academia and publishing circle.
