A Study On The Records Of Western Paintings In The Travel Notes Of The Late Qing Dynasty

In the late Qing Dynasty,a large number of literati and doctors went abroad to investigate.At the same time,the content of their travel notes was mainly based on what they saw,heard and felt.This became an important way for the Qing people who could not go abroad to contact the Western world.Most of them belong to the Westernization School,and the idea of saving the country through industry makes their investigations mainly focus on advanced Western machines and military technology,which leads to foreign tourists’ understanding of the scientific knowledge and theories contained in Western paintings.He was slow and slow,and it was not until the late Qing Dynasty that he had a more comprehensive understanding of Western painting and formed the concept of realism in painting.The views of Western painting of foreign tourists changed with the in-depth investigation,and also affected the understanding of Western painting of domestic scholars and painters.In the early late Qing Dynasty,most of the foreign tourists were looking around,and because of their lack of understanding,their attitude towards Western painting was mainly not praise or recognition.Most of the foreign tourists in the middle of the late Qing Dynasty were high-ranking ministers,and their minds were more open.While they praised the exquisite visual effects of Western paintings,their understanding of the scientific knowledge contained in Western paintings was also increasing.At this time,most of the foreign tourists’ attitudes towards Western paintings were mainly praise and affirmation.With the changes in the purpose and mentality of the investigation,the foreign tourists in the late Qing Dynasty went further in their investigation of Western countries,and also gained a certain theoretical understanding of Western painting,which provided a theoretical basis for the reform of traditional painting in the late Qing Dynasty.It can be said that foreign tourists not only played an important role in the Western painting views of literati and scholars at that time and the painting creation of painters in the late Qing Dynasty,but also had a profound impact on people during the Republic of China and even now.
