In the form of E-C consecutive interpretation and under the guidance of the interpretive theory, this interpreting report centers on the remarks by John Kerry, Secretary of United States at the World Economic Forum in the year of 2016.This consecutive interpreting report is divided into 4 chapters. Chapter one focuses on the background information about how the author decides on the consecutive interpretation as the way to conduct this interpreting practice and on the remarks by John Kerry at the World Economic Forum as the interpreting material, about a brief introduction to the World Economic Forum and also about the requirements for this interpreting practice imposed by the client. Chapter two elaborates on the whole process of E-C consecutive interpreting practice including pre-interpretation, during interpretation and post-interpretation. Being the critical part of this report and aiming at pinpointing mistakes and highlights of this interpreting practice, chapter three analyses 15 examples under the interpretive theory, specifically under two interpreting ways consisting of semantic equivalence and linguistic equivalence, and under three stages of interpreting process:comprehension-de-verbalization-reformation. In chapter four, the author takes an overview on the whole interpreting process and makes a summary about what should be learnt and what should be avoided to improve interpretation in the time yet to come.Owing to this consecutive interpreting practice, the author comes to realize the guidance provided by interpretive theory for interpreting practices and comes to know that there are still some problems related to interpreting study waiting for the author to solve.
