In the context of globalization,while the exchanges between different countries or regions are more frequent,learn from each other has become the consensus of China and Japan.After world war II,the Japanese thinker and literary critic Mr Kato(加藤周一),his insightful views of culture will bring us great significance.The selected text of the translation report Desirable Soliloquy is Mr Kato’s literary essays.Hope to show Mr Kato’s aspects of the Japanese culture for Chinese readers.And make some contributions for the culture exchange between China and Japan.Desirable Soliloquy is a literary review type text,wide-ranging contents,includes kinds of Japanese culture,foreign culture and thinking.Content were about 20 chapters.The translation report chose 3 chapters,Japan’s aesthetic,the red detachment,Godard and Buddha,and view of death--the Edo period and modern,translated and reflection.In the translation process,due to cultural differences,in the process of translation the author must make choices constantly,and keep the balance in the original and the translation is not easy,so I selected the Jiri Levy’s translation theory.The report consists of five parts.The first part is a brief introduction to the translation project,including the background and the objectives of the project,and the introduction to the source text.The second part is an introduction to the translation procedures,including preparations before translation,the translation process and the revision of the translation.The third part is about the Decision Theory and its influence on the translation procedures,including the introduction to the Decision Theory and it’s comments made by the author,and the influence on the preparations before translation,the translation process and the revision of the translation.The fourth part is about translation techniques and case analyses,in which the author analyses the translation techniques with practical translation examples.The last part is the translation summary,including the experience that the author has gained in the translation procedures and the problems to be solved.Strive to achieve at translation with accurate words,and can easy to be understood.Wish by the combination of theory and practice,improve the translation ability,and pursuit of a better translation.
