On Translation Of Foreign Listed Company Annual Report From The Perspective Of Newmark's Text Typology Theory

A listed company is a limited liability company issuing shares to public and listing on stock exchanges.A listed company,as an important economic entity in marketing development,plays a significant role in accelerating the global economy.The annual report of the listed company introduces its overall condition in aspect of operation,finance,investment and profit and loss,is the core of information disclosure of the company,and is also the important material about its basic situation.The present translation study selects the Item 7 from 2015 Annual Report of Amazon.com Inc.as the source text.Item 7 introduces Amazon managers' discussion and analysis on financial and operating condition.The content of the excerpt is an important direction for investors to decide on whether make an investment in Amazon's business by acquiring information about its operating and financial condition;on the other hand,the translation text is a reference for domestic company's managers to write their annual reports.Thus,the translation on listed annual report has an important economic significance and referential value.The translation study is based on the guidance of Newmark's text type theory.According to different linguistic functions,Newmark classified the text type into three categories:expressive text,informative text and vocative text.By the comprehension and analysis on the characteristics of different text types,the author classified 2015 Annual Report of Amazon.com Inc.as informative text.There are two characteristics of informative text:one is to transmit the authentic information,the other is to emphasize on the comprehension and reflection of the target reader.Based on the two characteristics,the author makes study and analysis of the translation method of the source text.This paper is divided into five parts:the first part is introduction,introducing research background,aims of research and research significance;the second part introduces Newmark's text typology theory,including three text types and two translation methods;the third part introduces characteristics of source text,and analyzes the text type of source text and characteristics of source text;the fourth part is the key part,introducing the application of Newmark's text typoplogy theory in translation of the source text,and the translation methods employed in the translation text from the perspective of two features of informative text;the fifth part is the conclusion,just hoping to provide valuable experiences and suggestion for translators who may translate annual reports of the listed companies.
