MSC has submitted the Draft International Code of Safety for Ships Using Gases or other Low-Flashpoint Fuels(IGF Code)in 2015.This mandatory code will come into force in January 1st,2017.The code has its legal validity and wide application with the formal language and authenticity.As a member of the research team—"Shipping Industry International Maritime Convention Hotspot Trace and Research",the author took responsibly for translating half of the code.This report is based on the research project.During the translation,it is obvious that "where" has appeared numerous times.It can be used as adverb,pronoun,conjunction and it can introduce the attributive clause,substantive clause and adverbial clause.Therefore,this report focuses on the Chinese Translation of "where" in IGF Code.Based on text types translation theory put forward by Katharina Reiss,the author analyzes "where" in different contexts and tries to translate the words precisely.There are few theses and literature of Chinese translation of "where" in the discipline of law and much less maritime law English reported.This report has reference value in the relevant field.
