With the development of globalized economy and information network,English has been becoming the most widely used international language.It has infiltrated into all aspects of life and become the primary language among countries' communication,which makes English learning more important with the rapid development of world economy.Therefore,the demand for English teachers has been heightened and the improvement of self quality has become increasingly important.Compared with other teachers,college English teachers undertake much more teaching tasks with longer hours work and pressure to reform English teaching continually to satisfy the needs of education and students.As a result,society and more researchers increasingly focus on college English teachers'professional development and their physical and mental health.This thesis takes college English teachers as the study object and studies the relationship between self-efficacy,identity and subjective well-being,and explores the factors that affect their subjective well-being.The study may enhance the research of college English teachers' professional development and physical and mental health from different views and enlarge the empirical research on the teachers' subjective well-being and supply practical suggestions on increasing it.The general self-efficacy scale(GSES),identity scale and subjective well-being questionnaire have been applied to 631 college English teachers and the result shows:(1)The applicability of identity scale to college English teachers is good;(2)The reliability and validity of GESE,identity scale and subjective well-being questionnaire are good;(3)There are sharp differences in the self-efficacy,identity and subjective well-being in different marital status;(4)There is significant positive correlation between any two factors in the self-efficacy,identity and subjective well-being;(5)Identity serves the role of intermediary between self-efficacy and subjective well-being.
