Cultural and creative industry is another emerging industry following the information technology industry, which is an important driving force for the development of international trade. The scale of creative products trade in China continues to expand. However, the scale of trade can not reflect the value-added capacity and the profitability of creative products. Only when the scale of trade expands while the value-added capacity continues to improve at the same time, can we truly achieve the quality of the trade in creative products improves and the international competitiveness enhances. In order to studying the value-added capacity of creative products of China, this paper analyzes the concepts of creative industry and the situation of Chinese current creative industry trade firstly. We find that the development of the trade in the field of creative products in China is out off balance, which mainly relies on the trade of labor intensive products like Design while other knowledge or capital intensive products like Audio Visual,Performing Arts, Publishing and Visual Arts are still insufficiency. For the sake of orientating the position of the creative products in the international division of labor, it discusses the domestic and foreign research on the methods measuring the technical content. This paper focuses on the measurement of "Export Sophistication”, and on the basis of this study to create a new index of "Relative Sophistication", and then using data from the"creative economy " database of UNCTAD to make the calculation and do the comparison of the value-added capacity in the trade of creative products between China and other 35 representative countries selected. The results show that: the value-added capacity of creative products in China is enhanced annually. However, it's still in the low value-added sectors of the international division of labor with a low international ranking, which means that the value-added capacity of China is not strong; in the field of different categories of creative products, the value-added capacity of trade in Visual Arts, Design, Art Crafts and Performing Arts are significantly higher than that of other creative products, and all are at a world leading level; in the field of New Media, Audio Visuals and Publishing, the value-added capacity of them are very low, and the signs of improvement in recent years are not obvious. In order to further enhance the value-added capacity of Chinese creative products, this paper based on the relevant trade theory and economic growth theory makes an empirical analysis from five aspects, in which is included the level of economic development, the resource endowment, the capability of independent innovation, the international technology spillover and the level of industrial development. The empirical results show that: the resource endowment, the capability of independent innovation(including higher education enrollment, the number of R&D personnel, and R&D expenditures accounted for the proportion of GDP), the international technology spillover(including FDI and imports) andthe level of industrial development all have a positive impact on the enhancement of the relative sophistication of China's creative products. The influence of international technology spillover and the level of industrial development is stronger, while the ability of independent innovation is very small. It reflects that the enhancement of the value-added capacity of China's creative products mainly rely on foreign technology spillovers, the ability of self innovation are still inadequate.According to the results of the empirical analysis, this paper points out that, if we want to enhance the value-added capacity in the field of the trade of creative products and to optimize the position in the division of global value chain, making China be a real cultural power, we should strengthen the support and guidance of the government policy, and fully use of international resources to intensify the R&D investment and the creative talents cultivation. And on the basis of that, we should further optimize the direction of international investment and encourage local enterprises to march up the value chain to ensure the healthy and rapid development of creative industries.
