This is a practice report of English-Chinese translation. The source text is Ten Lessons in Theory, a book of literary theory written by American writer Calvin Thomas. This translation task was chosen under the guidance of Professor Su. The author undertook the translation of the first two lessons independently.The report consists of five chapters. The first chapter is a description of the translation task including the source of this translation task, the nature and feature of the source text and significance of the study. Chapter two is a description of the whole translation process related to the time distribution. Chapter three is about preparations before translation including contacting the press company, establishing translation group, reading paralleled texts, tackling technical problems and the selecting of translation strategies. Chapter four analyses some cases of translation combined with the three aspects of Dynamic Equivalence as lexical level, syntactic level and passage level. Chapter five is summary. The author summaries some experience on the translation of similar text as Ten Lessons in Theory; meanwhile, I also listed some shortcomings of this translation.
