A Practice Report On The Translation Of Lesson 6 Of Ten Lessons In Theory

This is a practice report on English-Chinese translation. The source text is Ten Lessons in Theory which written by American critical theorist Calvin Thomas. The translator chose lesson 6 of Part 2 of Ten Lessons in Theory under the instruction of her professor.This practice report consists of five chapters. Chapter 1 is a description of the background and content of translation practice. Chapter 2 is a description of the preparation, process and proofread of translation practice. Chapter 3 is about preparations for translation which analyzes western literary theory and source text, and also introduces the preparation of reference and translation tools. In Chapter 4, combined with Dynamic Equivalence, the translator analyses some cases of translation on lexical level, syntactic level and passage level, and also analyzes problems and difficulties in the process of translation. In Chapter 5, the translator summarizes her experience and understanding of translation practice of Ten Lessons in Theory. Through the translation practice, the translator got a further understanding of the translation of western literary theory works and realized that the process of translation is not the process of conversion of two languages, but communication of different cultures.
