| This report is based on the 2019 English-Chinese translation project of The NS-1?Specification authorized by Shandong Mingzhu Petroleum Equipment Manufacturing Co.,Ltd.The translation task is independently completed by the translator.The source text(ST)is informative one and the translation of such a text belongs to non-literary translation.With strong purpose and functionality,the form of informative text is usually standardized.Skopos Theory provides a theoretical basis for the translator to flexibly adopt translation strategies and skills,and this translation practice also proves the guiding role of Skopos Theory in information-oriented text translation.There are five chapters in the report.Chapter One is to describe this project,which includes the background information,the requirements for this project and the introduction to the ST.Chapter Two is the process description,including pre-translation preparations,difficulties encountered in the specific translation process,proof-reading and feedback.Chapter Three is the theoretical framework,which summarizes the theoretical guidance of this translation activity---Skopos Theory and its three rules,and explains the reasons for the application of Skopos Theory in this practice.Chapter Four is Case Analysis.Those typical cases are chosen to be discussed and analyzed in great detail.Both the translation strategies such as literal and liberal translation,and the translation skills including division,shift,restructuring,addition and omission which were adopted in the process of translation are classified and elaborated in light of Skopos Theory.The last chapter is Conclusion,which summarizes the guiding role of Skopos Theory for the translation of informative text as well as the gains and reflections in this English-Chinese translation practice. |
