A Practice Report On The Translation Of Energy Performance Contracting Agreement

My practice report is based on the translation of the material Energy Performance Contracting Agreement from English to Chinese. As an English major, I began to learn about business English at university, and was aware of the interest and practicability of business contract translation. So I chose relevant materials to translate and analyze with the approval of my supervisor. Through the translation process, I got to learn more about the features of business English, especially the translation of business English contract.Energy Performance Contracting Agreement is a contract text, with accurate words and brief sentences. The original English text contains so many long complex sentences and technical words, like the archaic words. In the process of translation, I tried the best to translate the text in accordance with business English features—strict structures, precise words and formal sentence patterns.The main target of the Practice Report is to make a comprehensive summary about the translation process. The report is divided into five parts: the first chapter is task description,introducing the task source, task analysis and task requirements; the second part is process description, which introduces different translation phases, including task undertaking, task preparation, translation process and translation review; the third chapter introduces the preparations for the translation, including all the preparation work, like reading and analyzing the original text, parallel text, phrases and terms; the forth chapter is case analysis, analyzing the translation process from translation method, vocabulary, sentence, error analysis and so on.The last chapter is a summary, containing the experience and lessons I got from the translation practice.
