In the 20 th century,the production of Capitalism industry growing rapidly, but the rich material life didn't bring people happiness, on the contrary, people began to fall into a spiritual crisis. In Fromm's opinion people showing pathological state, people were alienated from themselves, compatriots and nature. The western social relationships were very indifference, true love was very lacking, loneliness and solitude lingering in people's lives. To save the alienation of human nature and the destruction of society, Fromm put forward his unique theory of love, to explore the meaning and value of love, and considered love can be learned.Fromm's theory of love combine love with humanity, made the presupposition of ‘goodness in the human nature' at the theoretical level, but in the reality the human nature is interwoven with good and evil. Fromm thinks that man has two kinds of potential, one is good and another evil. He opposed the two kinds of potential side by side, they are referred to as first potential and second potential. In his view, the second potential can appear when the first potential can't exert, people only developed his first potential, he will feel safe and comfortable. Fromm didn't put forward the viewpoint of ‘goodness in the human nature', but he criticized the sick society and Western society alienated humanity, that man should have love, freedom, creativity, we can see that he made the presupposition of ‘goodness in the human nature' from his theory. But in the reality, people need to contact with the outside society, Fromm according to the way which people connect with the occurrence made the personality type personality into health and non-health-type character. Character determines a person's thinking and behavior, different personalities lead to different behavior, so in the reality the human nature is interwoven with good and evil.Fromm combined with the problems of people and then put forward his own unique theory of love. He thinks that true love can overcome the sense of loneliness, can make people with their own, human beings and nature in harmony, and even integration. Fromm's theory of love has spread the true meaning of love, changed people's misunderstanding of love, made people to prompt a rethink about themselves and the environment, and thus to obtain true love and harmonious interpersonal relationship, to build a perfect society. Although Fromm's theory of love has some limitations, but it has important practical significance for the pathological society at that time and the situation of our country's modern society, we should dialectically treat it.
