| With the advancement of economic globalization, more and more international products are pouring into Chinese market. Many overseas companies devoted to medical equipment and instruments are seeking active cooperation with China, which to some extent can be very critical to the development of China’s medical industry. In order to integrate into the Chinese market, cooperate with Chinese companies and provide products and service for Chinese customers, it is of great importance for overseas companies to offer a copy of authentic Chinese product manual. The product manual can provide customers with detailed introduction of the functions of the products, guide customers to use the products by rule and line, explain to customers the expected effect by using the products and shoulder the responsibilities of promoting the products and building the brand image.This thesis is based on the translation practice of Sara Plus product manual. The author firstly explains the functions and the text characteristics of the product manual, then introduces the cooperative principle adopted as the guiding principle of this translation. In the body part of this thesis, the author analyzes some specific cases in Sara Plus product manual to explain the exact translation strategies utilized in this thesis. Concerning lots of terms and abbreviations, imperative sentences, passive sentences, simple sentences and complex sentences, the author applies different translation strategies, including literal translation, reduction translation, conversion of clauses, supplementary translation and splitting so as to keep the translation precise and practical.The author hopes that the simple analysis of the thesis will serve as a reference for the practices in translation of medical apparatus and instruments operating instruction manual. |
