Illustration Criticism Of Romance Of The West Chamber In The Ming Dynasty

The dissertation focused on illustrations of Romance of the West Chamber in illustration criticism perspective. In the first part, it introduces the relations of different vision of Romance of the West Chamber. Besides, it concludes three key factors which influence the style of illustrations, which are drama performance, traditional painting and the participation of literati painter. According to the characteristics of Chinese ancient literary criticism and art criticism, the most import here are found which are four modes of criticism:implements appreciation and illustrations criticism, painting poem and illustrations criticism, conception and feminism, which has an important reference function for the study of opera illustrations in the Ming Dynasty.Because of the high quantity and quality of the Western Chamber in the Ming Dynasty's opera edition, the study of illustration criticism of the Western Chamber is a typical of the Ming Dynasty opera research.
