To adapt to the rapid development of our economy and to meet the social demanding for English talents,the State Council put forward the policy:"developing vocational education vigorously".With the support and guidance of this policy,the vocational and technical education has made leaps and bounds.With the development of economic globalization,our country joined the World Trade Organization.As an important communication tool,English plays an important role.Economic globalization is a double-edged sword,which brings opportunities for the higher vocational education English teaching,and poses a challenge for it.The traditional English teaching model has deep roots in the vocational English education.Students' English foundation is weak.Their interest in learning English is not strong.Their enthusiasm of English learning is not high,and their self-control ability is poor in English learning.As a result,the English level of students is unable to meet the social demand for English talents in all paces of life.The main reason is an inappropriate teaching model except that students did not put enough emphasis on their English learning.Therefore,it is an important subject for public English teachers in higher vocational Education to explore students' ability to use English practically and the new teaching model complied with the law of English teaching.It has proved by teaching practice that cooperative learning is a way to improve the teaching environment,and to improve the teaching effect in an effective teaching way.The theory of cooperative learning arose in the United States in the 1970s,and was introduced into China in the 1990s,and made a breakthrough progress.Currently the application of cooperative learning in vocational English teaching is still in the exploratory stage.Combined with the practical teaching situation of College A,the writer in this essay did the experiment,collected the data,and finally came to the conclusion through the review of relevant literature,classroom observation,and teaching research.This essay is divided into four parts altogether.Firstly,I describe the background,the insignificance,the current situations,main research methods and the core concepts.Secondly,I introduce and analyses the present situation of cooperative learning applied to Vocational English Teaching.Thirdly,I try to build a cooperative learning class in public English Teaching in Higher Vocational Education.Finally,I raise the application of cooperative learning in Vocational English Teaching to carry out the recommendations.The essay aims to explore a set of effective public English teaching methods in Higher Vocational Education.
