The Horizontal Fusion Of Modern Psychology And Western Music Philosophy

Modern psychology focuses on the research of human mental activities, while Western music philosophy focuses on studying the essentials and aesthetic value of music. Both may not seem to be linked, but in fact, the construction of Modern psychology cannot do without the theoretical support of philosophy. As branch of philosophy, Western music philosophy has a certain correlation with Modern psychology in origin and theoretical basis. Due to the complexity of music essence, it involves humans' physiological, psychological, and social factors, so it is not proper enough to analyse and study the music essence only by using research approach of epistemology and methodology. Based on these conditions, this article strives for a research approach of interdisciplinary between Modern psychology and Western music philosophy. This article researchs the music essence from the perspective of horizontal fusion and gains the horizontal fusion between Modern psychology and Western music philosophy through rviewing methodology.This article is divided into six chapters. The first three chapters introduce the origin of the subject, research contents, character of the research, research method and their correlation of Modern psychology and Western music philosophy. The rest chapters make a deep research on the essence of music through different disciplinary theories. After discussing the meaning, attribute, category of music piece, this article researches the essentials of the four stages of inspiration, performance, composition and appreciation from the theory of interdisciplinary and draws a conclusion that the music essence harbors the characters of depth, duality and diversity.
