| This translation report, based on the author’s experience in translating Glimpses into Chinese Homes and Fan-qui in China, is an introduction, research and summary concerning the translation content, translation process, and translation results, under the guidance of the Skopos Theory. The excerpts depict authors’ experience travelling in Beijing and Guangzhou of China. Travel notes have distinctive characteristics, exhibiting the local conditions and customs of two cities of Beijing and Guangzhou with the simplest narrative tone. Travel notes belong to tourism text, which has its specific features. This translation report analyzes various problems in the process of translation and puts forward some corresponding solutions under the guidance of the principle of Skopos Theory, in order to make the translation more readable and more acceptable.This report is divided into five parts. The first part describes the translation task, including translation material source, introduction to the authors and main content, analysis of the text characteristic and translation brief. The second part is the translation process, which focuses on preparation, the difficult points in the process of editing the draft, reviewing the draft and perfecting the final draft. The third part refers to translation theory, exploring the origin and development of Functional School and three rules of Skopos Theory. The fourth part discloses the analysis of the translation examples from the lexical and syntactical levels. The last part concludes with the summary of translation practice, and the experience acquired in the process of translation, as well as deficiency in translation. |
