Nowadays,China has gradually consolidated a strong international status through all kinds of reforms, therefore, the translation of the political texts seems more and more important in the international community.Since an outstanding translation of such document can not only help the foreigners to further understand China’s policy, but also contribute to creating the image of China’s big power, the author chooses China in Transition as the translation material and took the contents of the second chapter in the fourth part of the original book, which includes four main parts: Objectives of the Government Role Transformation,New Functions of the Government in Transition Three Major Roles in Public Service,Designing Multiple “Masks” for the Government,in order to know more about the functions of the government in China’s transition and make further study on translation skills. With the help of the Internet, dictionaries, reference books and other relative materials, and based on the Text Analysis in Translation: Theory,Methodology and Didactic Application of a Model for Translation – Oriented Text Analysis by Christiane Nord, the author carefully analyses the source text from the following four aspacts: Translation Brief,Source Text Analysis,Translation Method,Text Generation.According to the analysis result and Nord’s “functionality plus loyalty”,the author’s translation strategy is to put the “instrumental translation” first, and “documentary translation” as supplement.Meanwhile,in order to achieve the fluency of the target text and loyalty to the original and the target text, the translator applied amplification, omission, recasting, and any other skills into translation. In addition, the author also discusses the relative translation examples from morphology, syntax and textual level in the process of the translation.By doing this translation practice and writing such a translation report, the author made a further understanding of translation, and realized the lack of sufficient knowledge concerning language and culture.
