This paper is a report on simulated English-Chinese consecutive interpreting of the PBG Economic Cooperation Forum in light of the seven principles of note-taking. The theme of the simulated forum is of both regional characteristics and contemporary features. Based on the geographical advantage of Guangxi, this forum highlights the important role of Guangxi in the implementation of the strategy of “One Belt and One Road” as well as in China's cooperation with other countries. To interpret well at such important forums, the interpreter should balance his/her efforts in several tasks involving listening, comprehension, note-taking and reproduction. However, during interpreting, junior interpreters are prone to allocat ing more effort to note-taking and ignore listening comprehension which result in illogical and inaccurate reproduction. Therefore, to optimize note-taking is critical for interpreters. This paper, based on Rozan's Seven Principles of note-taking, attempts to analyze the author's notes and interpreting and discuss how to optimize note-taking and coordinate multiple tasks in interpreting so as to improve the quality of interpreting. This paper will be divided into the following parts:Chapter One is an introduction to the interpreting task. C hapter Two is the description of the interpreting process, including preparations, interpreting and evaluation. Chapter Three is the main body of the report where the author firstly introduces the basic concept of Rozan's Seven Principles of note-taking, then analyzes the cases from the perspectives of terms, numbers and sentences combined with the theory. C hapter Four is a summary. The author analyzes the factors that exert influence on interpreting performance, and how to overcome the problems in note-taking so as to improve the quality of interpreting.By analyzing the interpreting practice, it is found that the author 's major problem in interpreting is poor ability in analytical listening. Sometimes, the author just grasped the key words but failed to make sense of the whole discourse. Also, she spent too much effort on note-taking so that she could not follow the speaker. It can be summarized that on the one hand, the interpreter should improve her analytical listening ability and on the other hand should enhance the practice of note-taking. Therefore, in daily practice, it is advised that an interpreter use more indexes, icons and symbols in note-taking so as to improve the quality and efficiency of interpreting.
