With the development of economic globalization, there is an increasing demand for interpreters. However, such a demand coupled with the shortage of qualified interpreters indicate that something is wrong in interpreter training. Of all the problems, lack of understanding of the interpreting process is a major one. Therefore, this report is going to analyze the three stages of interpreting, namely listening, memorizing and reformulation based on the Dynamic RDA Model put forward by Lai Yihua and the author’s own interpreting practice of “Managing Yourself”. The RDA Model is innovative in that it integrates three theories into one. The three theories are Relevance Theory, Interpretive Theory and Adaptation Theory. So far, few people have applied these three theories in their interpreting practice or study. Through interpreting practice, the author finds that RDA Model helps analyze and solve problems in interpreting. So the report is going to analyze semantic selection in the process of listening, logical construction in the process of memorization, and target language adaptation in the process of re-expression by using examples from interpreting practice. This report is aimed at revealing the value of RDA Model in directing interpreting practice so that more interpreting learners can have better understanding of the interpreting process and improve their interpreting quality.
