Paul Maurice is one of the handful women composers of France in twentieth century. She wrote more than 50 works all her life, of which the Tableaux de Provence is the most widely known that written for Marshall Muller, one of the greatest Saxophone master of French. This production has become one of the classical works in Saxophone original works library of twentieth century.Based on the traditional musical form analysis and combined with ontological analysis of this work according to sound level set analysis, this article is aimed to cognize the composition style and work characteristics of this composer. Meanwhile this article also illustrate the deductive research based on the Saxophone performance technology and performance experience. The art of saxophone as a subject has a complete system. The writer hopes to reach the goal of organic unity between the ontological analysis and performance analysis, providing the the research field of Saxophone in our country with new reference on theoretical research and performance practice.This thesis consists four parts of abstract, introduction, main body and conclusion. And there are relevant charts and reference materials attached behind the article. The first chapter is the introduction which summarize the research background information, research contents and research method of this thesis. The second chapter is the illustration of background information about the composer Paul Maurice and the work Tableaux de Provence suits. The third chapter is the music ontological analysis on Tableaux de Provence suits. The forth chapter is about the explanation of different music chapter in Tableaux de Provence suits according to the music analysis of last chapter as well as the performance experience of writer. The last part is the conclusion of related research.
