As a erudite literary scholar in the 20 th century, René Wellek not only has remarkable achievements in the filed of literary theory, literary criticism and literary history, but also puts forward some considerable insight on the study of comparative literature. In the vision of comparative literature study, René Wellek has formed his unique concept of national literature. To some extent, René Wellek's National Concept is the inheritance and development of Goethe and Marx's concept of World Literature, which always keep looking the national literature from a whole horizon. He believes that each national literature can be integrated into a whole based on their general character, each of them is the indispensable part of the World Literature. What's more, on account of the native character, any national literature is independent of one another.Anyway, the World Literature cannot be built for lack of one national literature, also, every national literature is equal in the process of building a world literature. The forming of Wellek's National Literature Concept also closely linked with his usual research methods above literature. He advocated a comprehensive analysis above each literature study to sharp a comprehensive overall, during which the splits are mutual affected and shined. Therefore, Wellek's National Literature Concept is deeply interpenetrated with his Literary Ontology Concept, Literary Criticism Concept and Literary History Concept, even though them are independent of each other. The distinction between "Structure" and "experience" in his literary ontology leads to the dialectical understanding between “literature essential rules” and“national characteristics”, thus profoundly analyses National literature; As a matter of course, the grand perspective and holistic pursuit broaden the horizon of his literary criticism, to form a new idea of literary criticism; Moreover, Wellek also applies the research paradigm of national literature to the study of literary history to make the "literature" and "History" closely integrated in one, creating a distinctive History Literature Concept. It can not be denied that Wellek's National Literature Concept has a great significance in both the World Literature and his own literary system. And it not only provides a wider scope for literary studies but also pushes Comparative Literary to a kind of unsurpassable height.
