The Translation Practice Report On C-E Translation Of Human Geographical Landscapes

In recent years,with the development of social economy,the improvement of people's living standard in our country,the third industry,especially the fast development of tourism continuously attracts the foreign visitors to visit,and the tourism has become one of the hot points to promote consumption.At this point,the tourism text of English translation becomes an important approach for foreigners to know about the information of the scenic spots.Therefore,the effect of translation of tourism text is particularly important.The scenic spots include the human geographical landscape and the natural landscape.The human geographical landscape is significant for foreigners to understand the Chinese culture.So the English translation of human geographical landscape is more important.However,in tourism markets of China the translation of tourism text has serious pragmatic problems.It causes great obstacles for foreigners to understand the meaning of the landscapes and it is not conducive to the development of China's tourism.Therefore,the translation quality of tourism text needs to be improved urgently.This practice report is based on the translation from Chinese into English of six chapters of human geographical landscapes from The Scenery of Linfen.For the translation of human geographical landscape from Chinese into English,it should be realistic and not break the artistic conception of the original text.The author thought that the Newmark's translation theories of communicative translation and semantic translation are suitable for the tourism text which is obvious in vocative function and informational function.Peter Newmarkattaches importance to language function,text type and readers' acceptability which are closely related to the translation methods.So the communicative translation and the semantic translation were put forward.The communicative translation emphasizes readers' acceptability and communicative effect.The semantic translation emphasizes the writers' thinking process and retains the cultural characteristics of the source language.Therefore,this practice report is based on the communicative translation and semantic translation to translate the tourism book of The Scenery of Linfen.Focusing on the following three aspects: in the process of the translation from Chinese into English,how to describe the text from Chinese into English and what strategies should be used in the process;the difficulties and methods that the author came across and used in the process of translation,especially on the translation of Chinese cultural words;analyzing the original quotes to look for a variety of effective means to make the translation be in line with the English characteristics to improve the quality of translation.
