Altruistic behavior is a selfless helping behavior that individual is voluntary and asks nothing for return and it includes assistance, support, salvation, comfort,compassion, etc. Since the influence factors are very complex, researchers have been devoted to investigating the mechanism affecting altruism in order to strengthen the awareness of altruism and stimulate altruistic behavior. University students are in the transition period, in which mental states are gradually developing from immature to mature. The cognition of life meaning can affect all aspects of behavior. University students' understanding of life essences and life values may have effect on altruistic behavior. This study can provide suggestions to improve college students' life meaning and altruistic dedication consciousness. It has practical significance for promoting students' growth and social harmonious development.Based on existing research results at home and abroad, this study defines the connotations of life meaning cognition and altruistic behavior, uses questionnaire survey as main research method, takes undergraduate students as research objects, and chooses personal meaning profile and revised altruistic behavior questionnaire as measurement. This study collects the relevant data by group testing, and based on the results of data processing and analyzing, it discusses the present situation of university students' life meaning cognition and altruistic behavior and the relation between the two of them. The conclusions are as follows:(1) The university students' life meaning cognition is above the medium level.The university students' life meaning cognition has significant difference in grade,and the life meaning level of sophomores is notably higher than juniors. The life meaning cognition has no significant difference in gender, origin of students,only-child or not and student cadre or not.(2) The university students' altruistic behavior is at the average level. The university students' altruistic behavior has significant difference in grade and origin of students. The altruistic behavior level of sophomores and seniors is notably higher than freshmen and juniors. The altruistic behavior level of students from cities and counties is higher than the students from countryside. The difference of students' altruistic behavior is not significant in gender, only-child or not and student cadre or not.(3) Correlation exists between life meaning cognition and altruistic behavior of university students. The life meaning cognition can affect altruistic behavior, in which interpersonal relationship, intimate relationship and self-transcendence factors have significant regression effect on altruistic behavior.
