| The relevant research paradigm has shown that agreeableness is able to regulate the coping policies of interpersonal conflict; however, the social perception of conflict situation of human beings has an impact on the selection of coping methods to the conflict, which cannot be explained through the relevant research paradigm. As a result, this research focuses on whether agreeableness is able to regulate the coping policies to the conflict under different social perception background under interpersonal conflicts with different intensity. This question is answered by three consecutive researches. The first research examines the regulating effect of agreeableness on the coping policies to interpersonal conflict. Specifically speaking, in situation of low intensity, agreeableness personality is not significantly related with the coping methods of regulating, avoiding and revenging. However, in situation of high intensity, compared with low agreeableness personality, high agreeableness personality has the tendency to direct regulate rather than avoiding and revenging. This indicates initially that the regulating effect of agreeableness is related to the intensity of the conflict. The second research focuses on the influence of conflict intensity on the regulating effect of agreeableness on coping methods to the interpersonal conflicts by controlling the intensity of conflict. Taking junior middle school students as the sample, this research adopts the design of 2(conflict of low intensity/conflict of high intensity) * 2(low agreeableness/high agreeableness) to discuss how agreeableness regulates the coping methods to interpersonal conflicts. The results suggest, firstly, agreeableness is a significant regulated variable between interpersonal conflict and direct regulation. The higher the interpersonal conflict is, the less those with low agreeableness personality will adopt the coping method of direct regulating; secondly, agreeableness is a significant regulated variable between interpersonal conflict and avoiding for that the higher the interpersonal conflict is, the more those with low agreeableness personality will take the method of avoiding; thirdly, agreeableness is also an significant regulated variable between interpersonal conflict and revenging because the higher the interpersonal conflict is, the more those with low agreeableness personality will take the method of revenging. The third research takes the junior middle students as the target and controls two variables. It adopts the design of 2(conflict of low intensity/conflict of high intensity) *2(low agreeableness/high agreeableness) to further analyze the regulating effect of agreeableness. The results indicate that, firstly, when the conflict is on purpose, agreeableness personality is a significant regulated variable between interpersonal conflict and direct regulating. With the increase of the conflict intensity, compared with those with high agreeableness personality, those with low agreeableness rarely use the coping method of direct regulating. When the conflict is caused unintentionally, agreeableness has no significant relation with direct regulating; secondly, when the conflict is on purpose, agreeableness personality is a significant regulated variable between interpersonal conflict and the coping method of avoiding. With the increase of the conflict intensity, compared with those with high agreeableness personality, those with low agreeableness are more likely to use the coping method of avoiding. When the conflict is caused unintentionally, agreeableness has no significant relation with avoiding; thirdly, when the conflict is on purpose, agreeableness personality is a significant regulated variable between interpersonal conflict and the coping method of revenging for that the higher the intensity of the conflict is, compared with those with high agreeableness personality, those with low agreeableness are more likely to use the coping method of revenging. However, under unintentional situation, agreeableness has no significant relation with revenging.Based on the above three researches, the conclusion can be drawn that: the regulating effect identified by the relevant research paradigm of metrology varies according to the concrete situation. Specifically speaking, firstly, when there is no intentional stimulus in the interpersonal conflict, compared with those with high agreeableness personality, those with low agreeableness is more tend to adopt the methods of avoiding and revenging rather than direct regulating in conflict of high intensity; secondly, when one believes that the opposite side causes the conflict on purpose, in interpersonal conflict of high intensity, compared with those with high agreeableness personality, those with low agreeableness personality tend to use avoiding and revenging rather than direct regulating; thirdly, for junior middle school students, when the individual holds that the opposite causes the conflict unintentionally, agreeableness personality is not a significant regulated variable between interpersonal conflict and coping methods. In short, the regulating effect of agreeableness personality on the coping policies of interpersonal conflict is conditioned, which is, one party in the communication has knowledge that the opposite party conduct the behavior which leads to the conflict on purpose and the resulted conflict is of high intensity. As a result, personality and social perception work simultaneously. |
