E-business refers to “economic or business activity in the use of electronic and information and information technology, particularly internet technologies”. Compared with traditional forms of business, e-business can not only greatly improve operational efficiency but also significantly reduce business costs. Ebusiness starts in the early 90's from the United States and spread the world very quickly. But in China it starts late and e-business theory and Internet technology research is mainly focused. As for e-business management, it is talked so little that there is not much information of translation in this field to be found. Therefore, the translation of e-business English text is very important.The translation project aims to provide text-typology of e-business and marketing experience for marketers and the like for references; from a professional point of view it helps e-business practitioners to increase awareness of the e-business content, to broaden management horizons, and to promote domestic development of ebusiness strategies. And it can help the translator to test the application of relevant translation theories in the translation of e-business English. Meanwhile, translation experience and translation ability can be improved.This is a translation project report on E-Business, of which Chapter 4 Online Customer Selling is chosen as the source text. The report discusses the translation process including pre-task preparations, post-task issues and case study, features of the source text. Peter Newmark's text typology theory and Nord's text analysis theory are applied in guidance of the translation practice. Features of the source text are summarized as specialization of the words, lots of noun structures and proper names. It also discusses such translation skills as, literal and free translation, amplification and omission, conversion, etc. through case study. It is to be noted that, the text contains a large number of e-business terminology related to marketing, web advertising, and Internet industries. The author discusses the professional qualities of e-business translators and also shares some translation experiences and lessons like the importance of pre-task, the effective use of network resources, and dictions of Chinese words.Throughout the translation study on E-Business, it is hoped that the report will provide some guidance and references for application and professional e-business English translators, and academically help promote and popularize the e-business strategy.
