Many different kinds of writing methods can be adopted to compose the work. And thus, it is a genre characterized by both historic significance and literary significance. The book Genghis Khan: Makers of History Series, written by Jacob Abbott, an American prolific author, is a representative of the kind. He reviews the whole life of Genghis Khan from westerners’ perspectives, making the work full of interest.Overwhelming descriptions of historic events may damage the artistic beauty of words; excessive use of flowery languages my discount the sense of truth. Hence,getting a balance point is essential to a piece of successful version. Under the guidance of Skopos Theory, the essay tries to make a detailed analysis of specific cases and summarize translation skills of the work.
