The Study Of The Music In Zuo Zhuan

Zuo Zhuan is an important literature to study the pre-Qin history and culture.It contains rich music information which provides the basis to research the ritual culture for scholars,and this is also helpful to the study of the ritual music.In this paper,the music in Zuo Zhuan is the research object,mainly form the following four aspects:The first chapter collect and class the music materials of Zuo Zhuan in detail.According to its contents which can be divided into two categories,the information of using music and the information of discussing music.The second chapter discuss the use of Zuo Zhuan in music.The use of Zuo Zhuan in music includes noble music for which involves the sacrifice,fierce,battle,banquet and five other music.The usage music of civilians involves political commentary,emotion express and political prediction.Ritual music is the main content of nobility's music,it focuses on banquet,expedition;the usage music of civilians is based on political commentary.They are both closely related to national politics.The third chapter discuss the characteristics of music in Zuo Zhuan from music information,the usage of music and the discussion of music.The music information in Zuo Zhuan focused on the middle and the later period of Chunqiu.The music of ducal states show obvious differences in space.The most significant characteristic of usage music in Zuo Zhuan is the combination of rites and music.However,people started to breakthrough the limitation of the rites.The usage of music towards to liberalization and diversification trend.This trend is reflected in three aspects: using music,the function of ritual music towards to practicality,the entertainment function of music become remarkable.The characteristics of discussion music concentrated in two aspects: using natural view explain the generation of music and using political view explain the social function of music.The fouth chapter discuss music recordation and music thought about Zuo Zhuan.The characteristics of music are consistent with the transitional features about Chunqiu Period's political,ideological and cultures fiields.At the same time,the characteristics of music recordation is closely related to its ritual music ideology.The ritual music thought was achieved by the author for the choice of music recordation materials and the evaluation of the behavior of using music.All in all,rich variety of music data in Zuo Zhuan have important historical value to research Chunqiu musical culture.The use of the music and its features largely reflect the development situation about Spring and Autumn period mucial culture.As a representative of early Confucian thought,Zuoshi music thought has important influence on the formation of Confucian ritual music thought.
