| Mr.Feng Yuanjun(1900-1974)originates from Tanghe of Nanyang,Henan Province,who is a famous Chinese modern female writer,Chinese classical literature historian and opera expert.In the opera world of 1930 s – 1940 s,she was a very active opera researcher whose research involved in a wide range,focusing on the collection and sorting in the meanwhile attaching importance to the issues in the development of operas.Apart from,she worked on opera writers in some ways,so she won a significant place in the academic circle.In the study of opera’s history,“Ancient Opera Collection” by Feng Yuanjun mainly discusses the performance place,performers,opera creators and opera conditions,which put forward the opinion that opera performing places were perfect,opera artists and writers were organizational and performance conditions had tendency to become mature.Such studies by Feng Yuanjun had great influence on Chinese opera history.In the study on ancient actors,“About Ancient Actors” by Feng Yuanjun adopted the western “Fou” methods to make a further research on ancient actors’ performance technique,characters and the effects.Then it comes to the conclusion that ancient actorscome from ancient witches and the reasons why ordinary people are in need of them are historical,social and psychological.Ancient actors have the functions of funny entertainment,song and dance,sports entertainment and music relaxation.And ancient actors are unique for their strange and ugly appearance,low intelligence,whose costumes are yellow and green,yellow are more,wearing soft scarves.Ancient opera performer had humble origin and humble social status,however,they could win themselves a better life by their unique art techniques.Feng Yunjun made the important conclusion that ancient opera actors had significant effect on Chinese opera development and Chinese literature history.In addition,Feng Yuanjun carried out textual criticism of Guan Hanqing,Huang E and Xuyuan,Wu Zao and other well-known dramatists,which laid the foundation for later scholars.Likewise,she uses documentary method to compile dramas of Song,Yuan and Nan Dynasties,adding the first-hand information on the research of dramas of Song,Yuan and Nan Dynasties and laid the foundation for the further study of these dramas.In short,Feng Yuanjun has made many contributions to the drama theory research,which should be affirmed and makes her enjoy an important position in the 1920s’ Chinese opera history. |
