There are four kinds of baojuan taking Bixia Yuanjun as heroine existing:Tianxianshengmuyuanliutaishanbaojuan,Lingyingtaishanniangniangbaojuan,Taishant ianxianshengmulingyingbaojuan and Taishanshengmukuhaibaojuan.Based on the existing description and text interpretation,this paper takes these four different scrolls as a text group for macro investigation,and restores the text generation activities of Bixia Yuanjun baojuan,through horizontal comparison and mutual verification of literature and history.In terms of society and history,there are three evolutionary stages before the formation of Bixia Yuanjun’s belief,but Bixia Yuanjun and Goddess of Mount Tai were not the same one until Qing dynasty.With documents about incense tax and officials,Tianxianshengmuyuanliutaishanbaojuan was written at the early time of Wanli.With Jiulianshenghui and the event that dragons shook Mount Tai appearing in the text,it is possible that Taishanshengmulingyingbaojuan were written after the 25th year of Wanli.And Taishanshengmukuhaibaojuan seems to be written from the 26th year of Kangxi to the 1st year of Yongzheng.As for form,different kinds of Bixia Yuanjun baojuan have subtle differences in ritual text and narrative order with the common modular structure of the baojuan.Text annotation,such as echoing of names of Buddhas,pauses and repeating marks,all serve live performance.Tunes contain single tune,compound tune and original tune.Among them,Wugeng Tune integrates the characteristics of its sect on the basis of inheriting tradition.Langtaosha has its own subject of visiting hell and special format.The creation patterns of Bixia Yuanjun baojuan are godship overlying and narrative application.The former raises the status of goddess by Linfan,establish a new identity in Chifeng and show the process in addresses,aiming to shape the image of Bixia Yuanjun.The latter tells the story of her in the method of grafting behaviors of figures,planning routes of pilgrimage and visiting hell which are combination of reality and fiction and rewritting plots of other folk and religious stories.When talks about folk sect,it can be found that Neidan theory were used by all these four kinds of baojuan as the way to heaven.Lingyingtaishanniangniangbaojuan of the Xidacheng Sect made a little change on that way to adapt to the enviorment of Beijing,compared to Tianxianshengmuyuanliutaishanbaojuan which seems to belong to Huangtian Sect.Taishanshengmukuhaibaojuan of Nanwu Sect not only follows Sun Zhenkong’s theory of introducing theory of Neidan into Luozu Sect,but also emphasizes earthly morality.Bixia Yuanjun is actually a practice example,and her eastward travel to Mount Tai has three meanings:pilgrimage,mountaineering and Zuocheng.
