The Research Of The Socialist Movement In The Turkey 1960s

A country which stretches across Europe and Asia,is regarded as a cross-road linking the two continents,in which case,its geographical location and geopolitical strategy are of great importance.Development and evolution of Turkey have exerted a profound influence on the history of the world.Socialism,one of the most influential socialist trends of thoughts in the 20 th century,had experienced a long phase of development in Turkey.On May27,1960,a military coup in Turkey was mounted by its troops who overthrew the Turkish Democratic Party,followed by the enactment of a democratic constitution in 1961,which legalized socialist movements in Turkey.After that,several legitimate socialist parties and organizations could be found in the country,among which Turkey's Labor Party and Direction Organization were the most representative ones.Subsequently,there was a growing trend for the development of Turkey's socialist movements.The essay consists of two parts: the introduction and four chapters.The former intends to draw forth essential parts of the text,which mainly gives an account of the purpose and significance of the topic as well as some related academic trends.The four chapters are as follows.The first part describes the development of Turkey's socialist movement before the 1960 s,followed by a detailed description of political and economic Backgrounds of themovement.The second discusses the development course of Turkey's Labor Party from its foundation in 1961 to its decline in1971,clued by a conference which involved such contents as party program regulated by the Labor Party in the early days of its establishment,the elections of the Labor Party,some leaders' different standpoints toward socialism,the breakup of the Labor Party and etc.The third mainly introduces the Direction Organization and ideology of Turkey's socialism related to socialist culture.In addition,the foundation of Direction Organization is to be talked in this part which also analyses what the Turkish government should do to move toward socialism.The fourth gives an introduction of views on national democratic revolution during the period of Turkey's socialist movements in the 1960 s.Meanwhile,the significance of each view made by different organizations is expected to be introduced in this chapter.
