| Interpretation, as a major assistance in the exchanges among diverse cultures, facilitates the development and mutual learning of civilizations and ensures social activities related to foreign issues. English-Chinese interpretation is among the most popular interpretation forms in China, whose development has been closely studied by scholars at home and abroad. A large number of relevant norms, standards and theories were have been established, which concentrates on matters of wording, grammar, structure, and so on.In Vermeer’s theoretical framework of Skopos, the most significant factor of the interpretation lies in the needs of audiences, whose cultural background knowledge, expectation towards the target text and communicative needs should be considered. In this, interpretation can be considered as a pertinent act aiming to eliminate communicative obstacles and the interpreter should apply corresponding strategies to meet specific communicative purposes. In the light of this, this paper focuses on the influence of non-linguistic elements on interpretation effect by probing into the English-Chinese interpreting cases and using public speaking strategies under the view of Skopos theory and summarizes related strategies to facilitate English-Chinese teaching and practice. |
