For centuries, Chinese writers have been absent in the award of the Nobel Prize in literature. It was not until 2012 has Mo become the first ever resident of mainland China to win the Nobel Prize in literature. Therefore, the complex for Nobel Prize stored up over years broke out at last when Mo Yan won the Nobel Prize in literature,which leads to a series of“Mo” effect. Such effect covers political, economic, cultural and social fields; Moreover, In addtion, Plus are the Being in the context of the contemporary consumer society, a larger cultural phenomenon beyond literature called “Mo Phenomenon” has been formed. So “Mo”is a special examples in the contemporary literary in that it is various, complex causes and great significance. " The thesis is to do research on “Mo Phenomenon”, which is based on the“Mo”, to explore the causes of its formation in order to re-examine the value contained in the“Mo“, and then find something to improve the rational knowledge of “Mo” which contributes to the development of contemporary Chinese literature in terms of its possibility and approaches. The paper is divided into several parts in the following:Introduction introduces the definition and the background of the formation of “Mo”. It also comments on the purpose and meaning of the study.The first chapter discusses the show of “Mo” in the mixed opinion of hot and cold,including hot and cold opinion under “mo”.Hot Opinion includes the common “heat” and wild “heat”, both of which are before and after Mo Yan has won the Nobel prize respectively.Through the changes from "heat" to "wild" present the transcend and extention of “mo” in the field of literature. Whereas “Mo” under the cold opinion involves the reflection from the literary critics,critical circles and extrem views from few people. The three voices are expounded in terms of the hot public opinion.Chapter Two and Chaptier Three is the main part of the thesis. Based on the Chapter One, Chapter two analyzes the cause of the formation of “Mo”. It first explores the relationship between the Nobel Prize complex and the social psychologies as well as the role played by the god-creating trend among Chinese. The role is devided into two, the comsumpion of “Mo” and the impulsion by medium.Finally, it analyses the reason why the society show nagative views on Nobel Prize whereas positive views on Mo Yan. Based on the analysis of the former two chapters,Chapter Three deal with the enlightening role played by “Mo”. It first call on the rational understanding of “mo”, in which it first requires the normal voice from literary critics, thereturning to normal reading as well as the inspiration for the future development of the Chinese comtemporary literature. This is mainly embodied in terms of both vigorously carrying forward the tradition of China and developing the spirit of the times. That is to say,Chinese writers should inherit traditional culture on the basis of correct understanding of the relationship between national literature and world literature. With its unique ethnic characteristics in form and content, it should embody the spirit of the times and social issues.All that is for the purpose of making the world become more concerned about Chinese literature, so that more Chinese writers are able to reach out to the world.The last part summarizes the whole thesis and stresses the enlightenment of “Mo”.
