As a worldwide award,the Nobel Prize in Literature is awarded every year to cause a great stir in the world.But if we look at the history of writers who have won the Nobel Prize,we can find one thing: once these writers have won the Nobel Prize,they rarely produce good works that reach their pre-award standard.This phenomenon is known as the “Nobel curse”.The first part of this paper aims at the phenomenon of “the curse of the Nobel Prize”,combs the occurrence of “the curse of the Nobel Prize” based on the characteristics of the Nobel Prize itself,and analyzes the reasons for the emergence of “the curse of the Nobel Prize” and the difficulty in breaking through the curse of the Nobel Prize.This is an important origin of this topic.Mo Yan won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2012,becoming the first Chinese writer to receive the honor.With Mo Yan’s award,China’s century-old Nobel Prize complex has finally come true.However,Mo Yan himself has also faced some new challenges and pressures.The most important problem is the “Nobel Mantra”.In the second part of this paper,on the basis of combing the innumerable relationships between Chinese literature before Mo Yan’s award and the Nobel Prize,the author takes Mo Yan’s award as the node to analyze and study the perplexity and pressure after Mo Yan’s award.The “Nobel curse” does not work for every Nobel laureate in the same way.For Mo Yan,he has encountered many difficulties,such as the loss of the tranquility of creation in numerous social activities,the difficulty of concentration in the noisy literary field,and the invisible loss of the creative spirit caused by the praise and scold on the Internet.As a writer with literary pursuits,Mo Yan is deeply affected by these difficulties.Began in2017,Mo Yan are adjusted from the psychology or creative,gradually from “storyteller”to “scholar”,advocating "literati spirit",after adjustment,precipitation,thinking,reflection,in literary creation to adjust the practice of language,style,content to the new change,shows that Mo Yan determination to actively seek breakthrough after winning.The third part of this paper takes Mo Yan’s creation and life in the process of self-precipitation and self-adjustment in the face of the “Nobel Prize Mantra” as the research object,and deeply concerns the change of Mo Yan’s creation and mentality.In July 2020,Mo Yan’s latest collection of short stories,Man of Late Maturity,was published.As Mo Yan’s first work eight years after he won the Nobel Prize for Literature,The Man of Late Maturation,on the basis of insisting on discussing human nature,has many new contents in its narrative style,emotional expression,characterization,narrative perspective and so on.This is the new achievement of Mo Yan’s novel creation after eight years of adjustment and reflection.The fourth part of this paper focuses on the new work“The Late Maturity Man”,and makes a detailed analysis of Mo Yan’s creation after winning the prize.This book,The Man of Late Maturity,is also one of Mo Yan’s answers to the “curse of the Nobel Prize” after winning the prize and settling down.
