Since 1970s, western translation scholars involved in culture-oriented research, shifted translation from linguistic prescriptive study to cultural descriptive study. Susan Bassnett's Cultural Translation Theory is the weather vane of cultural turn for translation studies. Cultural Translation Theory is based on cultural translation which indicates that functional equivalence of different culture is a means while cultural turn is the purpose of translation. In my opinion, culture-oriented translation is vital to the preservation of cultural connotation through cultural turn and communication of Chinese tradition culture. This report based on Chapter 13 and 14 in Chinese Culturology, targets on the translation methods of Chinese traditional culture. According to Susan Bassnett's Cultural Translation Theory, first of all, the report illustrates her translation studies, especially Cultural Translation Theory and its significance to the translation of Chinese Culturology. Furthermore, I also refer to some translation samples and make a good analysis of classical original Chinese and culture-bound words in the original text by means of the internet, reference books and English versions of Chinese culture. This paper specializes on the translation studies of culture-bound words and quotations from Chinese cultural classics with the aim of increasing quality of translated version and perfect expression of original meaning. In order to earn the recognition of foreign readers to the translated version, cultural functional equivalence is important for cultural communication during translation. After a series of analysis, it can be concluded that the translator should be knowledgeable person when translating historical literature and a person of translation tactics who can translate cultural words with Chinese characteristics. The language of translated version should read smoothly in consideration of foreign readers'cultural background, with a view to make readers have the same feelings as for the original one. In addition, as for the content of the translated version, translator ought to consult authoritative books and parallel texts as much as possible so as to convey precise ideas of the author and avoid omissions and errors. Finally, as for the style of the translated version, translator should do his utmost to restore the writing style of the original and lay emphasis on the content and style of the translation version with the purpose of cultural communication by means of various translation tactics, but its translation style must accord with the original to the greatest extent.
