This paper is going to analyze Zhang Yu's social intercourse deeply, basing on the study of his poem collection, and try to find the reason why he earned a greater fame than his actual achievements in poetry. This paper will be divided into three parts.Chapter one is the textual studies of Zhang Yu's poem collection. After collated and compared, the five volumes is the photocopy of Yuan dynasty version. Zhang Yu made friends with celebrities in the capital, such as Yu Ji and Sa Doula, and they regarded Zhang Yu as the friend of practicing Daoism and the Daoist immortal. Zhang Yu had a deeper influence in his times, which is greater than the evaluation that today's people make of his literary status. As far as I'm concerned, the main reason is that the personality and artistic accomplishments of Zhang Yu were what the scholars pursued and admired. Zhang Yu's identity as a Taoist priest, his hermit personality and his interest in making friends and traveling all improved his status in the literary circles. This showed the situation that the Taoist and the scholars'social intercourse were very popular in the Yuan dynasty, and it also showed that scholars in the Yuan dynasty tended to pursue seclusion in their lives.Through the study of Zhang Yu's social intercourse and his literary status, It is clear to understand the characteristics of scholars and literature in the late Yuan dynasty.
