Objective To investigate the impact of hypoglycemia on the early recovery quality in patients undergoing colorectal cancer surgery using post-operative quality recovery scale?PQRS?.Methods We enrolled 60 patients with colorectal cancer scheduled laparoscopic resection surgery in general hospital of the Ningxia Medical University.During the perioperative period?included preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative?,a 1mL blood sample was drawed from radial artery and blood glucose concertration?BGC?was detected using blood gas analysis every 1 hour?at least 5 times?.Patients with at least one blood glucose concentration of less than 3.3 mmol/L wered divided into hypoglycemic group, otherwise were divided into the control group. The postoperative quality recovery was evaluated by using PQRS in multiple domains including physiologic domain, nociceptive?pain, nausea and vomit?,emotive?anxiety or depression?,activities of daily living, cognitive function, and the overall recovery at 1 day before surgery,1 day,3 day and 7 day after surgery.Recovery was defined as“return to baseline values or better.”Baseline demographic and intraoperative data such as abnormal blood pressure, delayed awakening, and emergence agitation were recorded.Compare the overall recovery and related domains after operation of testing between two groups. Results Sixty patients were assessed. The percentage of patients with perioperative hypoglycemia was 35%?21/60?.The mean blood glucose concentration in the hypoglycemic group was lower than that of the control group at first 4 times?P<0.05?.The recovery rate of the overall and related domains of all patients was increasing gradually over the time. However, compared with control group, hypoglycemic group have more serious in nociceptive at T1 and T3,and emotional domains at T1?P<0.05?.Patients had not returned to baseline on all tests within 7 days in the hypoglycemic group was higher than that of control group, even there was no significant difference?P>0.05?.There was no significant difference in adverse events between the two groups. Conclusion The percentage of intraoperative hypoglycemia is high in patients undergoing colorectal cancer surgery.Intraoperative hypoglycemia may aggravate the nociceptive and emotive domains, thus affecting the early recovery quality.
