Objective: To investigate the association between different thyroid function and carotid artery plaque in type 2 diabetic patients with subclinical hypothyroidism and euthyroid. Methods: 342 patients with T2 DM were enrolled.BMI,LDL-C,TG,HDL-C,TC,UA,HbA1 c,MALB,MPV,FIB,FT4,FT3 and TSH were detected, while the results of carotid ultrasonography were collected.According to thyroid function status, all patients were divided into T2 DM +Subclinical hypothyroidism(SCH)group and T2 DM + euthyroid group. Then we detected the difference of age, sex, smoking, course of disease,BMI,TC,TG,HDL-C,LDL-C,TSH,FT3,FT4,MALB,UA,HbA1 c,MPV,FIB,and carotid artery plaque. Then we explored the relationship between carotid artery plaque and SCH using Logistic regression analysis.Next,The patients were divided into high TSH group(TSH?2.75 ulU /ml),middle TSH group(1.3 ulU/ ml<TSH <2.75 ulU / ml)and low TSH group(TSH?1.31ulU/ ml).We explored the relationship between carotid artery plaque and different TSH levels using Logistic regression analysis.Result: 1.The proportion of female, age,BMI,and duration of disease in T2 DM + SCH group were higher than those in T2 DM + euthyroid group(p<0.05).FT4 in T2 DM + SCH group was lower than that in T2 DM + euthyroid group(p<0.05).The proportion of plaque in T2 DM + SCH group was higher than that in T2 DM + euthyroid group(p<0.05).Logistic regression analysis showed that age,BMI,LDL-C,and SCH were independent risk factors for carotid artery plaque(p<0.05).There was a difference in FT4 between the three groups of general data. After further comparison, the low TSH group was higher than in the high TSH group(p<0.05).There was no significant difference between low TSH group and middle TSH group, middle TSH group and high TSH group. The trend chi-square showed that the proportion of high TSH plaque was higher than that of middle and low TSH(p<0.05).Logistic regression analysis showed that age,BMI,LDL-C and TSH were independent risk factors for carotid artery plaque(p<0.05).The risk of high TSH plaque development was 2.892 times lower than that of low TSH.And the plaque occurrence risk of middle TSH was 2.066 times lower than that of low TSH.Conclusions :1?SCH may increase the risk of developing carotid plaque in type 2 diabetic patients. The increased serum TSH level in the normal reference range can promote the development of atherosclerosis in type 2 diabetes patients with normal thyroid function.2?Age,BMI,and LDL-C are independent risk factors of the development of atherosclerosis.
