ObjectiveTo evaluate incidence rate of lung cancer of lung cancer between 1993 and 2012 in Qidong city,Jiangsu province;and analyze its hazardous magnitude and incidence pattern, hence to provide evidence of implement of prevention, research and control of lung cancer. To compare mortality data of lung cancer between Qidong and Yangpu in1993-2011;hence manifest mortality trend of lung cancer.MethodsIncidence data of lung cancer from Qidong cancer registry between January 1993and December 2012 were arranged systematically.Time change pattern of lung cancer incidence were analyzed by model of annual percentage change.Standardization was done by age proportion of standard population of national census of 2000.Mortality data of lung cancer from Qidong vital statistics between January 1993 and December 2011were arranged systematically, and compared with mortality data of Yangpu district.Time change pattern between Qidong and Yangpu were compared after standardization of age proportion of standard population of national census of 2000.ResultsA total of 11895 incident lung cancer cases in 1993-2021 were demonstrated, among these cases,8629 were males, and 3266 were females.Median diagnostic age was 68.41 years old.Crude incident rate of lung cancer in male was 90.06/10~5,being significantly higher than females(29.94/10~5,P<0.01).Standardized lung cancer incident rate in males were 52.92/10~5,were significantly higher than females(18.52/10~5,P<0.01).Between 1993 and 2012,annual percentage change(APC)of crude incident rate of lung cancer was 6.1,and APC of standardized rate of lung cancer was 5.5.Incidence rate of lung cancer between 1993 and 2012 in Qidong city increased gradually, and male incidence of lung cancer was significantly higher than females.Increasing pattern was apparent in population older than 40.In males, those aged 75-79 showed highest incidence of 632.47/10~5,whereas,in females, those aged 80-84 showed highest incidence of 184.59/10~5.A total number of 10042 lung cancer death cases were demonstrated between 1993and 2011 in Qidong city.7401 incident cases were male and 2641 cases were female.Crude mortality of male lung cancer was 69.16/10~5,significantly higher than females(24.12/10~5,P<0.01).Standardized mortality of lung cancer in male was 24.41/105,was significantly higher than that in female(7.94/10~5,P<0.01).Mortality of male lung cancer increased gradually in 1993-2011 being significantly higher than female.A total number of 10633 lung cancer death cases were demonstrated between 1993and 2011 in Yangpu district.7467 incident cases were male and 3166 cases were female.Crude mortality of male lung cancer was 70.84/10~5,significantly higher than females(31.94/10~5,P<0.01).Standardized mortality of lung cancer in male was 37.63/105,was significantly higher than that in female(16.34/10~5,P<0.01).Mortality of male lung cancer increased gradually in 1993-2011 being significantly higher than female.ConclusionIn 1993-2012,lung cancer incidence rate increased gradually, and male incidence rate were significantly higher than female. In 1993-2011,lung cancer mortality rate increased gradually in Qidong city, while lung cancer mortality rate decreased gradually in Yangpu district, lung cancer mortality in male were higher than in female both in Qidong and Yangpu.
