Objective:To compare the clinical characteristics of rheumatoid arthritis(RA)patients in different gender,in order to inform the development of novel and effective therapeutic strategies to treat RA.Method:The clinical data of 856 patients with RA from September 2015 to December2017 were analyzed retrospectively.According to their sex, they were divided into 2groups: male patients group(225 cases)and female patients group(631 cases). The relative clinical data of two groups were compared and analyzed, such as smoking rate, age of onset, course of disease, duration of morning stiffness, joint involvement, the number of other accompanying diseases, laboratory examination indexes,X-ray classification of both hands,VAS score of doctor or patient's overall condition of disease,DAS28ESR/CRP score and the score of the health assessment questionnaire(HAQ).Result:The total number of female patients in this study was significantly higher than that of male patients, and the male to female ratio was about 1:3.The number of male smokers in RA is more than that of women RA.The age of onset was older than that of male RA patients, and there was no difference between male and female patients(P > 0.05)before 20 years of age(P > 0.05);the number of women in 2l-30 years and31-40 years old was more than that of male patients(P<0.05),and the number of male patients more than 60 years old was more than that of women(P<0.0 5);men and women at the age of 40-50 and 50-60 are equal(P > 0.05);women are at the peak of RA at the age of 21 to 50,while the peak of the male is 40 years old.The time of morning stiffness in women with RA is longer than that of male patients. The total number of joints involved in male and female patients was not statistically significant(P > 0.05).In the number of other cases associated with disease, two groups were all patients with diabetes, hypertension and coronary heart disease, and male patients was more than female patients(P < 0.05).In the history of RA family, the two groups were equivalent, without statistical significance(P > 0.05),and the RA patients in male patients were more likely to have interstitial lung lesions than those in female patients(P < 0.05).Comparison of laboratory examination indicators, the two groups were not statistically significant(P > 0.05)in WBC,RBC,Hb,PLT and RF/CCP positive, but the values of hemoglobin in the two groups were less than normal, suggesting that there were different levels of anemia in the two groups;meanwhile, the scores of CRP,ESR,total cholesterol, low density lipoprotein,DAS28 ESR score,DAS28 CRP score and HAQ score were compared, and male patients was higher than female patients, with statistical significance(P < 0.05).And the male patients was lower than the female patients with high-density lipoprotein(P < 0.05).There was no significant difference in VAS score between doctors and patients in the two groups(P > 0.05).Conclusion:There is a difference in the clinical characteristics of RA between the two sexes.Compared with the female patients, the male onset time is late, the course and the morning stiffness is relatively short, but it is more likely to be complicated with interstitial lung disease and often combined with diabetes and cardiovascular disease. It needs to be paid attention to the early intervention treatment which may improve the prognosis of RA patients.
