Objective: to discuss the correlation between serum vitamin D level and islet function in patients with Type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)in uygur and han nationality. Methods: retrospective analysis of clinical methods, selection of uygur and han nationalities was 518 cases of T2 DM patients, divided into two groups, uygur, han, analysis the general data between the two groups,25-hydroxy serum vitamin D(25(OH)D),glycosylated hemoglobin(HbA1c),fasting blood sugar and sugar load after each time points and the value of serum insulin,Insulin resistance was assessed using the insulin sensitivity index(ISI)and the homeostasis model assessment of the insulin resistance index(HOMA-IR).The insulin secretion function was assessed with the islet ?-cell function index(HOMA-?)and the modified islet ?-cell function index(MBCI)and Glucose Disposal Index(DI)were evaluated.According to the sample size, the 25(OH)D levels were divided into three groups. The comparison between the Uygur and Han populations related to islet function and general data was performed between the three groups. The correlation between 25(OH)D levels and islet function was further analyzed according to different nationalities and genders.Results:(1)the differences in age,BMI,waist circumference(WC),25(OH)D,high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(hdl-c),ISI,homa-ir and homa-beta in uygur and han patients were statistically significant(p <0.05).(2)according to the group of 25(OH)D,there were differences in BMI,BMI and DI among the three groups.(3)the correlation analysis was further conducted, and the level of 25(OH)D of han males was negatively correlated with BMI and WC,and 25(OH)D levels in uygur women were negatively correlated with BMI(both p <0.05).There was no significant correlation between the han and uygur men and women's 25(OH)D level and the islet function. Conclusion: in the first diagnosis in patients with T2 DM,the han nationality male 25(OH)D levels and negatively correlated with BMI and WC,uygur women 25(OH)D levels and negatively correlated with BMI,but two national levels of 25(OH)D with islet function indexes have no obvious correlation.
