Clinical Observational Study Of Chemotherapy With Or Without Combination Of Yiqi Yangyin Jiedu In Advanced Non-small Cell Lung Cancer

Purpose To strengthen the theoretical and clinical foundation of traditional medicine in adjuvant chemotherapy of NSCLC,and specially,to expound the feature and advantage of YiQi YangYin JieDu,we evaluated the clinical efficacy of YiQi YangYin JieDu,which contains Taxus chinensis var mairei,in advanced NSCLC patients who receiving paclitaxel and cisplatin regimens.Method We retrospectively enrolled 65 patients with advanced NSCLC without driver mutations in our study.Thirty-two of them in the treatment group received a paclitaxel and cisplatin chemotherapy with combination of YiQi YangYin JieDu,33 in the control group received a paclitaxel and cisplat:in chemotherapy alone.Other treatment were similar between two groups.Chemotherapy was repeated every 21 days.Patients in the treatment group received YiQi YangYin JieDu after every chemotherapy finished,from the first to the fourth cycle.We evaluate the efficacy every two cycles during chemotherapy,then every six months thereafter.We still assessed the survival status after 12 months follow-up.The following endpoints are of interest:the change of complete blood count,hepatic and renal function,the T-cell immunity functions,tumor makers,body mass,quality of life,traditional Chinese medicine symptom,progression-free survival(PFS),1-year survival rate and chemotherapy adverse drug reactions.Results 1.There were no statistical difference in age,gender,ECOG score,clinical stage between the treatment and control group(all P>0.05).2.In the aspects of myelosuppression,immunity functions,hepatic and renal function,and tumor markers,the treatment group was significantly better than the control group(all P<0.05).3.In the change of body mass,significant difference was exist between two groups.In the treatment group,more patients with body mass increasing or stable,less patients with body mass decreasing,when compared with the control group(P<0.05).4.In PFS and 1-year survival rate,the treatment group were also significantly better than the control group(P<0.05).5.In the traditional Chinese medicine symptom score,KPS,and quality of life,the treatment group were also significantly better than the control group.6.Significant difference were found in the chemotherapy adverse drug reactions(P<0.05),the treatment group were significantly better than the control group.Conclusion Chemotherapy in combination of Yiqi YangyinJiedu recipe can improve quality of life,prolong survival time,and reduce the toxicity of chemotherapy in patients with Qi-deficient,Yin-deficient,and Toxic advanced NSCLC,where Yiqi Yangyin Yiedu recipe functions as effect-enhancing and toxicity-reducing.
