Objective:To observe the clinical effect and the quality of life after adding and subtracting Wu-Mei-Wan in the treatment of Post-cholecystectomy diarrhea and to discuss the possible mechanisms of Wu-Mei-Wan.Methods:50 patients who met the diagnostic criteria for Post-cholecystectomy diarrhea were collected. The patients were divided into a Chinese medicine treatment group and a western medicine control group, each including 25 patients, with a sampling method of random number table. The two groups of patients participating in this study should be comparable in age, sex, and duration of disease before treatment. The traditional Chinese medicine treatment group was given oral decoction of traditional Chinese medicine, the prescription was Wu-Mei-Wan,and the western medicine control group was given orally Bifidobacterium triple live capsules(Pefikran)and compound Azinmidet enteric-coated tablets(Hexat). Both groups were treated continuously for 8 weeks. The clinical symptom relief and quality of life improvement were observed before and after treatment in both groups.Results:(1)Comparison of clinical curative effect:Chinese medicine treatment group and Western medicine treatment group all had good clinical effect. The clinical symptoms of Chinese medicine treatment group improved more obviously, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).As we can see from the main symptoms of diarrhea(stool frequency, stool),the treatment for both groups are effective. The effect of Chinese medicine treatment group is more obvious, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05);in the second symptom abdominal pain(abdominal pain, abdominal pain frequency)both groups had curative effect, but the difference was not statistically significant(P>0.05).In the second symptom, the treatment of both groups were effective,Chinese medicine treatment group had more obvious effect, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).(2)The correlation between PCD and quality of life:The Chinese medicine group and the Western medicine group had a positive correlation between the total clinical symptom score and the total quality of life score before treatment(0<r<1).After treatment, the differences of clinical symptom scores between the two groups were also positively correlated with the difference of quality of life scores(0<r<l).Regarding the improvement of the quality of life,t-test was performed on the difference in total scores of quality of life between the two groups before and after treatment. There was no significant difference(P<0.05).Conclusion:The addition and subtraction of Wu-Mei-Wan can significantly relieve diarrhea, abdominal pain, abdominal distension, incomplete defecation, anxiety, loss of appetite and other clinical symptoms in patients with Post-cholecystectomy diarrhea, but whether the Wu-Mei-Wan was more effective to improve the quality of life remains to be further explored, and the mechanism may be related to the promotion of intestinal function recovery, regulation of intestinal flora, and repair of mucosal barriers, and the like.
