The Association Of Sleep Quality With Cataract And Cataract Classification-A Population-Based Study

Objective:Recently,Sleep disorder has become a major public health problem worldwide.The early reports has found that the quality of sleep in cataract patients may change.Our study aim to investigate the correlation between cataract and cataract classification with the quality of sleep from the population,and to explore the correlation between different forms of sleep disorders.Methods:A total of 404 participants were recruited in this Study.Sleep quality was evaluated with the Chinese version of the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI)Diagnosed of cataract and Severities of cataract were determined by the LOCS(Lens Opacities Classification System)II.The severity of cataracts is divided into two categories,The sum of the three parameters of C?N and P plus more than or equal to 2 is classified as a severe cataract,Information of age?gander?smoking,?drinking?income?education level?Physical Activity?lifestyle and medical history was collected by face-to-face interview using structured questionnaire.Multiple linear regression was used to analyze the relationship between cataract and Cataract Classification with sleep quality.Results:After adjusting age,sex,body mass index(Body mass index,BMI),income,education,smoking,physical activity level,drinking and hypertension,There is a positive correlation between cataract and PSQI total score,but no statistically significant,There was no statistically significant correlation between cataract and Cataract Classification with sleep quality.Conclusion:In this cross-sectional,population-based study,we found no statistically significant correlation between cataract and Cataract Classification with sleep quality.Further investigations are needed to elucidate the role of cataract and cataract severity on sleep...
